Auckland Airport reduces landing fees

9:04 pm on 6 July 2009

Auckland Airport says challenging economic conditions have led it to reduce landing fees for airlines by 5%, instead of increasing the charge as planned.

The airport says it was due to raise landing fees by 2.5%.

Rob Mercer, head of research at investment banking company Forsyth Barr, estimates the fee reduction will cost the airport about $4 million, or 2% of its operating profit, in the 2010 trading year.
