Sky TV says the recession has not stopped people paying to tune in.

At its annual meeting, the pay television operator announced a rise in the number of viewers, adding a net 30,000 subscribers.

Sky says the release of its High Definition decoders is driving new subscriptions.

Chief executive John Fellet also told the audience that fewer people are disconnecting.

He says profit for the 2010 financial year is forecast to reach about $99 million.
