Eurozone unemployment up

Unemployment in the 16 countries that use the euro hit 10% in December for the first time since the single currency was introduced in 1999.

Official figures show 15.8 million people are now out of work in the eurozone.

Spain's jobless rate rose to 19.5%, while the Netherland's stood at 5.4%.

Latvia has the highest jobless rate in the EU at 22.8%.

There are now 23 million people unemployed across all 27 countries that make up the EU.
