Westpac to reopen retail branch in London

Westpac plans to reopen a branch for retail customers in London in an attempt to tap into the New Zealand and Australian ex-pat banking market.

Westpac has operated in London since 1853, but closed retail branches in the late 1990s.

Expatriate banking senior manager Anthony Davison says the new, cashless branch will open early next year in the heart of the financial district.

It will focus primarily on helping expatriate customers manage their finances, but also open bank accounts for those planning to move to Australia or New Zealand.
