Internet advertising revenue has bucked the decline experienced across other media last year, according to figures from the Advertising Standards Authority.

Total advertising revenues in New Zealand fell to just over $2 billion in 2009, a fall of 14% compared to $2.3 billion in 2008.

Newspaper and television advertising were the worst affected, both falling 30%.

Newspaper ad revenues dropped to $623 million and TV ads to $570 million.

Radio advertising revenues fell 11.5% to $236 million.

Cinema advertising was the least affected, falling just 0.3% to $6 million.

The internet was the only media where advertising revenues grew last year, increasing 10.55 to $214 million.
