Stocks on Wall Street have risen, as investors flocked to Greece's bond issue. The issue was oversubscribed.
However, weak results from Alcoa disappointed the market.
The Dow Jones Index was up 13 points, or 0.12% on Tuesday, to 11019.
The Nasdaq Composite was up 8 points, or 0.3%, to 2465.
The Dow closed above the 11,000 mark on Monday, for the first time since September 2008.
The Australian 200 Index closed down 32 points, or 0.6%, at 4951.
The NZX 50 closed down 4 points, or 0.1%, at 3305 on turnover of $86 million.
At 8.10am on Wednesday, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 71.08 US cents, 76.61 Australian cents, 46.23 pence, 66.20 yen and 0.5225 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 65.72.
Brent crude oil was trading at $US83.37 per barrel and gold was trading at $US1151.40 per ounce.
