An organisation that represents a majority of Maori businesses has appointed former New Zealand First Member of Parliament Ron Mark as its chief executive.

He will lead the Federation of Maori Authorities and says he's honoured to be able to add value to the country's largest Maori economic development and advocacy collective.

Mr Mark says there are significant opportunities for Maori in the current economic environment.
