Accounting software firm MYOB says business owners want to hear election promises to cut red tape and simplify tax processes.
MYOB surveyed 1000 business owners on a range of possible policies in the run-up November's general election.
It found 74% in favour of simplifying provisional tax rules.
General manager Julian Smith says the most surprising finding was that 42% were in favour of a common economic zone and currency.
He says business owners are keen to debate greater trans-Tasman unity in the run-up to the Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard's visit to New Zealand next week.
