Industrial action that threatened to cripple all ports in Australia has been averted, at least for a few weeks.
Maritime workers around the nation have decided not to walk off the job over a pay dispute.
In a statement issued on Friday night, the Maritime Union of Australia said it had offered to withdraw a notice of industrial action in return for a revised offer from Patrick Stevedores.
The ABC reports that talks between the MUA and Patrick are expected to resume next week.
