US markets down again

Stock markets in the United States fell for a fourth session on Monday, on concerns about slowing global economic growth.

The Dow Jones Index was down 61 points, 0.5%, at 12,089 points. The Nasdaq Composite wass down 30 points, or 1.1%, at 2702.

The Australian 200 Index closed on Monday down 13 points, or 0.3%, at 4569.

The NZX50 was closed for the Queen's Birthday public holiday.

At 8.10am on Tuesday, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 81.30 US cents, 75.96 Australian cents, 49.73 pence, 65.18 yen and 0.5581 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 69.71.

Brent crude oil was trading at $US116.03 per barrel and gold was trading at $US1544.50 per ounce.
