House sales rose to 5,766 in May, a seasonally adjusted rise of 16% compared with the previous month.
The Real Estate Institute says the national median house sale price fell 3% to $350,000, while the average number of days to sell a property rose from 43 days to 45 days.
ASB economist Chris Tennant-Brown says Auckland continues to perform strongly, while other parts, like Northland, and the South Island, are flat.
