Complex issues remain for Canterbury business

Canterbury Employers Chamber of Commerce chief executive Peter Townsend says the business community has proved to be very resilient, but complex issues remain to be dealt with.

He says eftpos transactions are 90 - 95% percent of normal levels and export growth is strong.

Mr Townsend says issues still relating to insurance payouts, continuity and new insurance need to be dealt with.

Land stability, aftershocks and insurance are interdependent, he says, and stability in the insurance market is needed as soon as possible.
