Maersk to continue NZ-Malaysia shipping service

7:12 am on 28 November 2011

Maersk says it will maintain the shipping service it operates between New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore when its business partner pulls out next year.

MISC Berhad of Malaysia will quit the container shipping business next June.

The two companies are joint operators of the Northern Star and Southern Star services, which provide a weekly connection between New Zealand and key hub ports in Singapore and Malaysia.

Maersk says it will maintain both the Northern and Southern Star services in their present form.
