Drop in unemployment

Unemployment in the United States fell to its lowest level for more than 2½ years in November.

The latest jobs report shows unemployment dropped from 9% to 8.6%.

The number of jobs created in September and October was revised up by 72,000.

The private sector added 140,000 jobs during the month, while government employment continued to fall. The retail sector saw the biggest gains, with 50,000 jobs added.
