Markets down on Monday

The NZX 50 index closed down 22 points or 0.6% to 3223 on Monday.

Among the major share movements: Fletcher Building was down 25 points to $5.92, Telecom lost 3.5 cents to $2, and Contact rose 8 cents to $5.28.

NZ Refining is down 4 cents at $2.95 after issuing a profit warning, saying it expects to make a profit of between $43 million and $48 million for the year to the end of December, a decrease of up to 25% on the $57.6 million it made in the previous year.

Sky City Entertainment ended the day unchanged at $3.39 and Sky TV shares were also unchanged at $5.20.

Fisher & Paykel Appliances was unchanged at 34 cents while Rakon gained 1 cent to close at 46 cents.

Restaurant Brands was up 4 cents at $2.09, Pumpkin Patch was unchanged at 64 cents, and Hallenstein Glasson lost 3 cents to $3.36.

The Warehouse ended up 1 cent at $3.11.

In currency markets, at 5.20pm the dollar was trading at 75.8 US cents, 76.5 Australian, 48.98 pence, 59.1 Yen, and 0.5836 euro. The TWI was at 68.15.
