Fonterra has record-breaking month

Fonterra has broken its record for the highest value of exports for a single month in December.

Its sales brought in $1.3 billion in revenue for the month.

Fonterra counts for over a quarter of New Zealand's exports.

The company's trade and operations managing director, Gary Romano, says a good autumn and a mild winter provided ideal grass growing conditions, which boosted volumes.

Mr Romano says demand for dairy exports is looking strong, as people in many foreign markets grow wealthier and want more nutritious foods.
