Woolworths plans to sell the Dick Smith chain of electronics stores.
The Australia-based grocery company says it has already received several offers for the stores since it announced a strategic review of its consumer electronics business last November.
It is also planning to close 100 under-performing stores within the next two years.
Woolworths chief executive Grant O'Brien says Dick Smith will continue to operate as normal while a buyer is found.
Mr O'Brien says workers affected by closures will be offered employment elsewhere in the group.
