Michael Hill International expects to see growth in its stores in the United States as it looks to improve top line sales and margins.
The company's half year profit to December rose by 11.5% to $26 million.
Michael Hill's retail stores in the United States made revenue of $US5.3 million in the six month period.
However, it lost more than $US1 million in operating costs.
The company says it is pleased with the performance of these businesses, but says there is a long way to go before the nine stores prove themselves in that market.
It says the focus is on improving its top line sales and margins.
The companies revenue in the six month period to December rose 7% to $289 million.
It will pay an interim dividend of 2 cents per share, compared with 1.5 cents in 2010.
