A main arterial route running through Christchurch city is due to open on Friday after being shut for more than a year.
Madras Street, a one-way road running through much of the red-zoned CBD, has been closed since the earthquake of 22 February last year.
A spokesperson from the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority says the opening has been delayed because of a dangerous building.
She says the contractor, Fulton Hogan, is still finalising the temporary road.
