The Government has spent about half of the $5.5 billion allocated in last year's Budget for the rebuild of Christchurch.

Work completed includes 12,000 square metres of road repairs and the installation of wastewater and drinking water pipework.

Prime Minister John Key says another $2.45 billion of the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Fund is due to be spent by the end of next month, and another $2.17 billion is forecast to be spent out of the fund in the next financial year on infrastructure repairs.
