More Port Hills homes zoned red

The remaining properties at risk from unstable rocks on Christchurch's Port Hills have been zoned red.

The owners of the 37 properties in the Horotane Valley and on Bridle Path Road had been kept waiting for a decision even though 121 others in the area were zoned red in August.

Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee says the decision was delayed so experts could look at whether there was a way to deal with the risk of rock falls.

A final decision is due in October on eight properties at risk of landslip in Lucas Lane.

Mr Brownlee says the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority will soon be able to tell residents from the Port Hills how to seek a review of zoning decisions.
