Red zone deadline extension details to be announced

The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority says more details should be available next week about potential deadline extensions for red zone residents, who have to move out by the end of July.

Some property owners have expressed anger that only people who went to workshops in Christchurch this week were told about the extensions.

They were told a limited number of extensions will be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the applicant's vulnerability.

Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee said residents who have not given an official move-out date will be contacted to discuss their options.
