The last section of state highway closed in Christchurch following the destructive earthquake on 22 February has reopened.
The Transport Agency says all flooding and liquefaction has been cleared from the section of State Highway 74 from Breezes Road at Bridge Street to Wainoni Road.
Canterbury operations manager Pete Connors says all highway structures have been assessed and are safe for use.
However, inspections show Anzac Bridge over the Avon River and the Horatane Valley overpasses on the approach road to the Lyttelton Tunnel are damaged.
Mr Connors says they are not suitable for use by some heavy trucks operating with overweight permits.
