Emergency department inundated with donated food

Christchurch Hospital's emergency department has been inundated - not with patients - but donated food following February's earthquake.

Hospitals, preschools and individuals have sent baking, clothes, coffee machines and lollies from Invercargill to the Far North.

One nurse has been living in a camping ground with her family since the quake and says the generosity of people throughout New Zealand has kept her going.

The hospital says the Tippet family from Waiheke Island paid for catering for emergency staff for a full week.
