Residents in the Port Hills of Christchurch want street meetings with geotechnical engineers following a zoning announcement that nearly 10,000 properties are safe, but leaving the fate of 4000 others uncertain.
The idea for smaller meetings was raised on Wednesday night at a community meeting for the entire Port Hills. More than 500 people attended.
Community representative Terry O'Leary says most of the questions that residents, have can be answered only by geotechnical engineers working in their area, so localised meetings are necessary.
Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority chief executive Roger Sutton says he is aware the meeting was too large and plans for suburban or street-wide meetings will be worked on.
