Council to end free removal of liquefaction silt

9:19 pm on 26 January 2012

Christchurch residents with silt on their property caused by liquefaction have until 31 January to have it removed from their area by the city council.

The council says residents currently can pile silt onto the road and call the council for it to be cleared away.

After 31 January they will have to dispose of it themselves.

The council says it will not collect silt containing construction debris or vegetation.
