With 74-58 at full-time, after a very close game in the first half, the New Zealand team widened the score by the end of the third quarter, 57-39.
Canada racked up the turn-overs in the first half but they started to close the gap in the last quarter, inching towards the New Zealand lead.
Playing strong defence, the Tall Ferns managed to hold onto that lead until the end.
The Tall Ferns found themselves playing for bronze after taking out their semi-final game against Australia yesterday; 109 - 50.
