Auckland's Joseph Parker is seen as New Zealand's brightest hope amid the talented boxing squad selected to challenge in Delhi.

Parker, 18, won silver at the Commonwealth Championships in Delhi in March and matched the achievement with a silver medal at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in August. The super heavyweight boxer from Auckland also claimed bronze at the Youth World Championships in Azerbaijan in May.

Parker is joined in the five-member Commonwealth squad by 23-year-old Nathan McEwan, who won bronze at the Commonwealth Championships in his 75kg weight class and Angus Donaldson, 23, who won silver at the Oceania championships in Canberra in August.

The squad is rounded out by Reece Papuni and David Aloua, both 23. Aloua also claimed a bronze medal at this year's Commonwealth Championships, while Papuni finished in third place at the President's Cup held in Azerbaijan.
