More focus on athletes wanted at Glasgow Games

New Zealand Commonwealth Games chef de mission Dave Currie wants more focus on athletes at the next event in Glasgow in 2014.

About 60 athletes and officials returned home from India on Saturday.

Mr Currie says too many decisions were made about pomp and ceremony in Delhi and not enough were made on the needs of athletes.

However, he's delighted the Games did go ahead even though they came down to the wire.

Prior to the Games, he says it was marginal as to whether they would go ahead.

Mr Currie believes they would not have, had it not been for top-level intervention in India.
