National dips in two new polls

Two political polls out today have support for National dropping and Labour gaining ground.

In the final Stuff-Ipsos poll of the campaign, National dropped by more than 5 points to 47.7 percent and Labour jumped 3.7 percent to 26.1.

The Herald-Digi poll has National down 0.4 to 48.2 and Labour up 1.3 to 25.9.

The Greens slip slightly in both polls to 12 percent and 11.1, while New Zealand First is up slightly to 8.4 percent in the Herald poll and 6.6 in the Stuff/Ipsos poll.

Radio New Zealand's poll of polls compiled by political analyst Colin James, an average of the most recent surveys, puts National on 46.4 percent - 8.2 percentage points ahead of Labour and the Greens combined.

Poll of Polls averages including the Herald, Fairfax and last night's TV1 polls are:

The Herald-Digi poll conducted from 11-17 September questioned 775 voters and has a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percent.

The Fairfax poll, carried out from 13-17 September, included 1002 voters and has a margin of error of 3.1 percent.
