Boyle in final with record-breaking swim

The form New Zealand swimmer at the London Olympics, Lauren Boyle, has qualified for the final of the women's 800 metres freestyle.

Boyle broke a New Zealand record with a time of 8:26.30 to finish second in her heat behind Rebecca Adlington of Great Britain.

She qualifies for the final with the fifth fastest time.

Rebecca Adlington of Britain was the fastest to qualify for Friday's final. She finished in eight minutes and 21.78 seconds. Lotte Friis of Denmark was second fastest.

Adlington, the defending Olympic champion, also won the 400m bronze on Sunday.

Boyle broke her New Zealand record in making the 400m final earlier in the week with a time of 8 mins 25.91s, 0.39s below her previous national record.
