Meat workers at eight North Island AFFCO plants will strike for two days next week in support of colleagues locked out by the company.
Meat Workers Union members will also start indefinite work bans on overtime and on training new employees called in to replace locked-out workers.
Almost 1000 workers are locked out in a dispute between the union and the Talleys-owned company over a new employment contract.
The union says it will also call for local communities to protest outside supermarkets selling Talley's products.
General secretary Dave Eastlake says it's reprehensible that the company has locked out workers without responding to its latest bargaining position, which it made last week.
AFFCO operations manager Rowan Ogg says the company will respond to the union by the end of the week.
The strikes will affect six plants on Monday and Tuesday, and two others on Wednesday and Thursday.
