Shell has dropped the price of its petrol to just under $2 a litre.
The company cut its prices by 3 cents a litre on Thursday evening - with 91 0ctane now selling for 199.9c per litre.
Shell has also cut the cost of diesel by 8c per litre, making it 171.9.
The company says it has been reviewing prices daily, and despite a steady fall in the New Zealand dollar over the past week, the drop in the price of crude oil is enough to be able to pass on savings.
95 Octane is selling for 204.9 a litre.
