A post-mortem will be carried out on Monday on a body which is believed to be that of a Christchurch women missing for almost two years.

Emma Campbell, 29, hasn't been seen since May the first 2010.

Ms Campbell's car was found off Dyers Pass Road in the Port Hills in May 2010, but an intensive search of the area at the time did not find any clues as to her whereabouts.

After several weeks of searching police said they believed her disappearance may have been staged.

On Saturday afternoon a hunter in the Port Hills contacted the police, after finding a body in a steep ravine covered by scrub.

Police guarded the site overnight and the body was brought out by helicopter on Sunday morning.

Once the post-mortem is complete, the coroner will look into the circumstances of the death.
