Rugby World Cup worth $9m to Nelson

A report to the Nelson City Council says the Rugby World Cup was worth $9.2 million to the region.

Nelson hosted three World Cup pool games involving Italy, Australia, the United States and Russia last September and October.

The report says the council spent $1.75 million to host the games.

Visitors spent more than $5 million - mostly on accommodation, food and drink.
