The three parties wanting to build a major Wellington motorway have made their closing submissions on the final day of a month-long inquiry.
An Environment Protection Authority board of inquiry is considering resource consent for Transmission Gully, a 27-kilometre long inland highway to supplement State Highway One heading north from Wellington.
The Transport Agency, Porirua City Council and Transpower want to build the four-lane highway, saying it would ease congestion, improve safety and increase economic activity.
The board will decide by mid-June whether or not to grant resource consent.
