Court orders delay to redundancies at Ports of Auckland

5:26 am on 16 March 2012

Ports of Auckland union members have won an interim injunction delaying redundancies.

The Employment Court has ordered a stop on any redundancies until a hearing on Monday.

Judge Barrie Travis has also ruled that no worker can be sacked and no one can be hired to replace the striking port workers until the hearing.

The judicial settlement conference will be closed to the public and the media.

Neither the Ports of Auckland nor the Maritime Union would comment on the ruling while the case is still before the courts.
