Police in Auckland say they are flat out dealing with St Patrick's Day celebrations on Saturday evening.
They say more people than usual will be taking part in the celebration of the Irish patron saint because the day falls on a weekend this year.
A police spokesperson says there are extra officers on duty on Saturday night, patrolling the city.
A police spokesperson earlier said owners of licensed premises were taking additional steps on Saturday to ensure the safety of their customers.
