Christchurch City Council will look at bringing in a bylaw to restrict the location of brothels in the city.
One of the councillors, Sue Wells, says it would require all brothels, expect for small owner-operated ones, to be located in specific business zones.
The current bylaw on the location and signage of brothels only requires that they adhere to the same rules as other businesses.
Ms Wells says that was not a problem until the earthquakes drove brothels out of the central business district and into suburban areas.
She says a proposal will go out for public consultation.
