More arrests expected over Dunedin student clash

More arrests may be made as a result of a clash arising from the "Undie 500" car rally in Dunedin at the weekend, say police.

Altogether, 26 men and four women were arrested early on Saturday and charged with offences including obstruction, breach of the peace and breach of the temporary liquor ban.

Inspector Dave Campbell says the north Dunedin student area was under close watch at the weekend.

Police had video photographers on the streets and the images will be analysed.

Mr Campbell says he is particularly keen to identify those who threw bottles at officers.

Most of those arrested will appear in Dunedin District Court on Thursday.
