Mt Albert family to be told next week of appeal

9:23 pm on 28 August 2008

The Auckland family accused of intimidating its neighbours will have to wait until next week to see if an appeal to have it evicted from its Mt Albert home will be heard.

Housing New Zealand is appealing last July's Tenancy Tribunal ruling, which found there was not enough evidence to remove the Salt Family from its Range View Road state house.

Residents claimed last year they were frequently terrorised by members of the family.

Housing New Zealand says the tribunal's decision had a number of errors of law, and it's important it shows leadership in clarifying the legal issues involved.

Judge Phillipa Cunningham says the decision on whether an appeal will be heard will be released next week.
