More rest home workers join strike action

7:33 pm on 3 April 2012

The Service and Food Workers Union says eight more Oceania rest homes are joining strike action after a meeting on Tuesday afternoon failed to end the six-week industrial dispute.

Staff at 30 rest homes around New Zealand now plan to strike on Thursday after Oceania declined union proposals at the meeting.

The union says the company received a 2.6% funding increase from the Government last year which should be passed on to its employees in a pay increase.

The workers will strike from 8am until noon.
