6:09 am on 1 September 2008

A man fatally shot as he returned to his home in the South Auckland suburb of Papatoetoe was discovered by his pregnant partner.

In two other incidents in the Counties Manukau district: a man, 17, was shot in the leg in Mangere and a man, 19, from Papakura is in a stable condition in Middlemore Hospital after being found with head injuries on a netball court at 2am on Sunday.

The partner of the slain man heard three gunshots as he walked up the driveway at around 12.20am on Sunday.

She is expecting their second child. Neighbours heard her screaming and saw a black sports car speed off.

The man, 26, died two hours later in hospital.

Detective Inspector John Tims says they're looking for a man, 30.

He says the offenders knew their victims and they were not random attacks.

He says 165 officers worked in Counties Manukau between 10pm on Saturday and 2am on Sunday.
