Police have suspended the search for a swimmer who went missing at a Wairarapa beach on Monday but his friends will continue to look for him.
Eroni Ravanga-Gaunavou, from Vanua Levu in Fiji, was swimming with friends off Akitio Beach when he failed to resurface.
Helicopter crews, dive teams and volunteer searchers combing the coastline have found no sign of him.
Police say more than one hundred people were involved in the search on Saturday.
Many of them were volunteers who knew the twenty-two year old.
They say his many friends will continue to look for him in the next few days.
Eroni Ravanga-Gaunavou came to New Zealand to play rugby on a visitor's permit.
