A student accused of murdering a woman found dead in her central Auckland apartment has been remanded in custody after a court appearance on Friday.
Yi Ren, 30, also known as Tina, was dead when emergency services arrived at the Winchester St apartments in the suburb of Newton.
The man, 23, changed with her murder appeared in Auckland District Court dressed in a blue boiler suit with his left arm in a sling and a bandage around one of his fingers.
It is thought he was the man who called emergency services to the apartment before being admitted to Auckland Hospital and kept under police guard.
He has been remanded in custody until 9 September and has interim name suppression.
