Celebrations are being held in Gisborne to mark the decommissioning of HMNZS Resolution.
The ship's company will parade through the city at 12.30pm on Saturday to the district council building where the ship's captain will hand over the ship's home port charter to the mayor.
A concert will follow the handover with the hydrographic ship open to the public on Sunday.
HMNZS Resolution will sail for Auckland on Monday for the decommissioning.
