A large scrub fire in the Upper Hutt hills has been brought under control by rural fire crews.
The Fire Service was called to the blaze near the Silverstream landfill at 4.15pm on Monday.
Deputy principal rural fire officer Craig Cottrill says 10 fire crews and a helicopter got it under control about 7pm.
Mr Cottrill says gorse and pine trees were burned, but no properties were threatened by the fire.
It is not yet known how it started.
