No other fruit flies discovered in Auckland

The Ministry for Primary Industries says no other Queensland fruit flies have been detected since one was found last week in the Auckland suburb of Avondale.

That discovery sparked a major biosecurity operation, with the ministry laying hundreds of traps and checking them regularly for any sign of the pest.

It says more than 160 special bins have been placed in the area to ensure no household has to travel more than 200 metres to dump its fruit and vegetable waste.
