Snapper confident of meeting Auckland ticket deadline

The firm behind the payment system used by Auckland's biggest bus operator is confident it can comply with the region's new electronic transport card.

The HOP system is due to be rolled out in six months allowing commuters to use a single electronic card on all public transport in the region.

The $100 million system has been delayed as Snapper continues efforts to make its rival system compatible.

All operators have to be ready to use the HOP system but the biggest, NZ Bus, uses Snapper which is still to meet the national standard developed alongside HOP.

Snapper chair Rhoda Philippo says the firm has always been confident it can adapt its system.
