Police search and rescue staff in North Otago say they have found the body of a man believed to be that of a missing tramper.
Searchers have been looking for David Palmer, 53, for almost a week since he failed to return from a tramp in the Ahuriri Valley.
Police say the body of a man believed to be in his 50s was found at 11.30am on Sunday in an area of the valley known as Canyon Creek.
No formal identification has yet been made, but Mr Palmer's family and friends have been told of the find.
A coronial investigation is underway.
